I am. I’ve just found out that a song I’ve been waiting to hear has just dropped. I really need to go and listen to it!

Beth
‘Dropped’? Well, we all know ‘dropped’, but can I just check you don’t mean a song has just dropped on the floor…

Feifei
No! In this context, ‘dropped’ means something has been released. It’s a singer I love, and they’ve been teasing this song, but I didn’t know it was coming out today!

Beth
Ah, you didn’t know it was dropping today. So, we can use ‘drop’ for something new and exciting. And it’s not just songs that drop. A trailer for a film can be dropped, or a fashion brand could drop a limited edition of something.

Feifei
Yes. And you know what? A new season of my favourite TV series has just dropped. I can’t wait.

Beth
I think I know what you’re talking about, and I’m also very excited.

Feifei
