Attempt這個單字和Try十分的相似，不過Attempt通常用於表現人的首次(初回)挑戰。當你想嘗試OO但是最後卻沒有執行，等過了一陣子後打算再次嘗試時，可以使用the second attempt來表現這個情況，不過基本上還是以表現初次嘗試為主。
My first attempt to do the full marathon.
-這是我初次挑戰跑完整個馬拉松。 This is my first attempt to learn a foreign language.

Give it a go
give it a go 有著「去試著做看看、來挑戰看看、總之先做看看」等意思。在英國它比較是以日常的方式使用，並且具有積極努力的正面印象。
Helen: I want to ask him for a date but I’m embarrassed. Peter: Why don’t you give it a go？You never know he may like it.
海倫 : 我想邀他去約會，但我好害羞。
彼得 :你何不就去試試看？不然你永遠無法知道他喜不喜歡。

可能大家早就知道，在幫某人應援時’’Go for it =加油！ ‘’的意思，除此之外它還有「向著目標努力邁進、努力試試看！」的意思存在。將整個句子拆解成go+for+it是否更好記呢？
