Mould is a problem around the world.

You may have seen it in your home, or it may be hidden from view.

But could it really harm your health?

Mould is a microscopic fungus that grows in damp places. There are likely more than 100,000 different species, but only some are harmful to humans.
黴菌是一種生長在陰暗潮濕環境中的微小真菌。黴菌的種類可能有超過 10 萬種,但隻有其中的一部分對人的健康有害。
Moulds and the spores they release into the air can irritate the eyes, skin, and nose, and can cause an allergic reaction in some people, like sneezing or red eyes.

When breathed in, the mould and spores get into the airways and lungs and can trigger coughing or wheezing, and can make existing conditions like asthma worse.

Some mould species can cause serious lung infections in vulnerable people, but this is rare in most.

Symptoms like brain fog and fatigue have also been reported.

Children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions or weakened immune systems are among those most likely to be affected by mould.
