And I’m Beth. We have a word which is all about having a claim on something, making sure you say what you want before anyone else takes it. The word is ‘dibs’. And it’s often used in the expression ‘call dibs’.

Jiaying
Call dibs. 如果某人使用表達 “call dibs”，意思其實就是 “搶先提出要某樣東西，因此可以優先獲得它”。Beth，這個表達在日常生活中具體怎麼用，你能給我們講講嗎？

Beth
Well, you know that pizza we were eating earlier, the really delicious one, there’s one slice left and I want it!

Jiaying
You better call dibs then! 那你最好先向大傢提出來想吃這最後一塊披薩餅，好趕在其他人之前把它拿下。

Beth
I will, as soon as we’re done here! Err. By the way, for dinner tonight, are you driving everyone to the restaurant?

Jiaying

Examples
