This ‘bear’ taking care of its cub may look real, but have you noticed that it’s actually a human in costume?

Increasingly threatened by human activities and climate change, many bear species have already been listed as protected or endangered.

So when the two-month-old cub was found alone and starving by a group of campers in a Californian forest in April, wildlife officials tried to reunite him with his mother overnight.

However, the mother never returned, and the cub was taken to the San Diego Humane Society, where he will be released into the wild once he’s ready.

To avoid human bonding and to prepare the cub for life in the wild, caretakers wear a bear costume to help mimic a mother bear.

It is hoped that this bear cub can return to his natural habitat and start his own family some day.
